I guess it is just my day for questions.

I have a form where the user selects a date (no time selector). Today, she selected 12/6/2017, and, in the body of the email that's what shows. That's also the value in the database. The placeholder {coa___servdate}, which I am using in email plugin to put this information in the subject line says 12/5/2017. What would make it subtract a day (or several hours)?

Time is correct on server, time zone is correct in Joomla and php.ini.

Can you give me the exact settings on that element? If it's easier, screenshot the "Formatting and Time" and "Date Formats" tabs.

Joomla 3.6.2 (trying to upgrade, but keep having these sorts of things pop up) , and the message body is a php file in which everything is fine. The placeholder in question is in the subject line of the email.

Can you paste the code from the PHP. I can't immediately see why the dates would have TZ applied differently, but it may depend on how you are getting the data in the PHP.

Ah, J! 3.6.2? How recent / old is your Fabrik code? I've made a LOT of changes to the date element code since the 3.6 era.
