Error on validation rule

Hello,
When I use validation rules, if the rule returns false and the form is not submitted, I'm getting this error:

If the validation returns true, the form is submitted and no message appears both on front and backend.

What can be happening here?

Do you have a user element and/or jUser form plugin?

I'm not at my PC and I can't remember if I tried to replicate.
But I remember issues if you are using a user element in the jUser plugin. It should be a field or dbjoin.

Ah, OK. I'll see if I can track that down. I know I've seen that error before, but I'm usually in the middle of debugging something else and then forget to come back and look at it.
