How to disable lists

I have a form but want to disable the associated list, in other words, once the data is in the database I want to prevent any front end access to it. If I unpublish the list this also unpublishes the form, similarly with trashing the list.
An alternative would be to prevent anyone but superuser from being able to access lists from the front end.

Set list access as you need.
If you want nobody to access the list create a new Joomla access level (e.g. nobody) with no Joomla user group assigned.
Select this access level for "View list", "View/edit/delete records", then the form can be used only to add new records.

Many thanks, I knew it was there somewhere (access), I just couldn't remember how I had done this before.
