Modify Birthday element Date Format

None of the Date Format options for the Birthday element are useful to me. I want to make the Birthday selection and the way it is displayed in Detail view the exact same as it is saved in the database: YEAR-MONTH-DAY. It is formatted that way when I draw from the database field in an email template. How can I get it to display that way on the Detail View? And how can I make the order of the Birthday date elements on the form show in that order as well? As is, the selection of Birthday date items is ordered as Day Month Year

I would like the user to be able to input the birth date by Year Month Date and I would like it to be displayed in that order in all instances (list, detail, email, etc.)

You can override the birthday-form layout.

In the recent version you can only access the formatted string; for accessing the single values
