How to link to a local file?

This might sound silly, but i can't find the proper syntax for this:

I have added the following code into a calc element:

return "<a href='file:///D|/contracte/{contracte_info_generale___id}.pdf' target='_blank'><strong>Download</strong></a>";

I need to keep the generated pdf files to partition D:, the C: must be kept only for OS. Xampp is also installed on partition C.

I think you aren't allowed to link to local files.

that's not good what else i can do to keep the file outside localhost but also have a link to it from my website? I will use this option in our company intranet, so security it's not a big issue

sorry no idea. Not exactly sure why you want to do that ? What's the point having it out side localhost if the browser can still access it?
