[Solved] Related Data List - no elements

Joomla 3.3.6, Fabrik 3.2

I am working on an app with three tables, Ships, People, Voyages. Ships and People contain basic details, Voyages contains the linking data for many to many relationships. The lists all work fine in the back end, displaying all the expected data.

I have a joomla menu item to display the ships list with the related data show voyages list button. The Ships list displays the correct data, the show voyages list button opens the list, and shows the correct number of records, with details, edit etc buttons but no elements are displayed(see the attached screen shot). I have tried both pop-up and list options. For the Ships list it is necessary to select the required elements in the menu item options, this cannot be done for the related data list, so how are elements added.

I'd be grateful for any advice on adding the missing elements.

For the Ships list it is necessary to select the required elements in the menu item options

You can't use the menu element selection if you want to open an other list with the same menu Itemid (as the related data is doing).
Select the elements to show in list view in the element settings.

I had assumed you had to select, but this must just over ride element settings. Many thanks
