Dates off when adding records

I was adding records to a table . I noticed that Most of the dates were a day later than what I entered.

• In the start dates list, I have an element called Date
  • Show time selector - no
  • format - %H:%M
  • Store date as - Local Time
  • List format D F jS, Y
  • Form Format
• If I go into lists, start dates and add a record with a date of Dec 25 2014 from the selector, it shows in both the front and back end lists as Fri December 26th, 2014.
• If I go into PHPMyadmin, the date shows as 2014-12-26 08:33:19

Does anyone have any idea as to why I'm getting the weirdness in the dates.??
