Removing table joins doesn't remove elements

@IanJim ... when you delete things, are you making sure you empty the trash as well?

When deleting a join from within the List settings 'Data' tab, that shouldn't be necessary, as we directly remove the copies of the element from our metadata tables (like #__fabrik_elements, etc).

But anything in any of the main backend tabs, like Lists, Elements, Forms, etc., if you delete ("Trash") something, you then have to empty the Trash in order to actually delete those objects from The Universe. Otherwise they are still there, just hidden from view. So if you trash an element called 'foo', don't empty the trash, and try and create nother element (on the same form/group), it'll barf.

To empty the Trash, use the "Status" dropdown on the right, select "Trashed". That will then show you the content of the trashcan, and you can select and Empty trash as needed.
