User-element in secondary db connection

I had my system setup and working seamlessly until I ran the latest update a few days ago, now i'm getting errors in both the front end and backend of my site: COM_FABRIK_ERR_JOIN_TO_OTHER_DB


I have a second database connection that i use to store data away from the main Joomla db.

In my forms and lists I would save the user id. This worked great.
It seems now that this element is broken. Disabling the "user" element in a list or form fixes the problem, but I need the user id saved to each row.

Any advice/suggestions?
