Bug? Double entries in list after validation

I have a very strange issue.

In my form i have a Cascading dropdown selecting data from a databaseview (which is a join between two tables). I have also "notempty" validations on several fields in the form.

If i get a valdiation error/message and have done any changes in the cascading dropdown the record will show twice in the list. But it is only one record in the database.
If i get a validation error/message and have NOT changed/touched the cascading dropdown the record will show only once in the list - as it should.

Is this a bug showing double records? Obviously i need to get rid of it, cant have the list like this. Please advise.

I have been struggeling with this for hours now, and realize that it has to do with the cascading dropdown. If i remove this, the list shows correctly. If i add this again, it shows dublicate entries in the list. And it has nothing to do with validation. It just seemed so.
What solved it was to set the lists - advanced - add distinct=yes.
