button element javascript not working

Trying to use the button element, with some javascript, it does not seem to be working. Tried all mouse events and nothing. (Also refreshed cache)

Simple test using inline code

window.open("www.google.com");

Seems to work fine for me, first try.

Select 'click' and used the inline to do an alert ...

Are you seeing any JS errors on page load which might be short circuiting setting the event up for the button?
