Form Layout

After few years ob absence I returned to Fabrik and wanted to do some development. One thing that I am missing is some simple way to customize form layouts. Not sure if it is a matter of my education, some plugins or it simply requites coding Form templates (by hand which I have no time for).

I've seen some videos with Balsamiq2 and exporting XML to Fabrik but this was super long ago. What would be recommended/quickest/simple method of modifying Form layouts ???
For example, simple things like placing several fields in one line, using multi columns

There are some options like multi-columns, labels positions etc. in form and group settings, but for more advanced modifications you still need custom template and/or css (or as an alternative, a lot of layout manipulation can also be done with jQuery in form_xx.js).

Unfortunately baslamiq2fabrik component is not available for Fabrik 3.
