Turn off Joomla user registration and use only Juser plugin

Does anybody know if the Juser plugin will still register users through a Fabrik form if the capability to self-register is set to "No" in Joomla's User Option?

I would like to turn off Joomla's own registration so spammers can't use the default Joomla registration URL. They seem to be able to defeat the ReCaptcha 2 mechanism.

I suppose I could just try it out, but this is a live site.

I tried to set up a 301 redirect in htaccess to redirect the default registration URL and it isn't working.

It shouldn't be a problem with Joomla registration off, I have several sites running this way.
Or you can override the Joomla registration link
