Get value of a filter into the template

How may it get this value into my template ?
The name of this field is jqd_mt_li___cust_2
and I would like to have something like:

$myvar = getStatusOfFilter(' jqd_mt_li___cust_2')

Have you searched the forums and Wiki? I'm pretty sure this has been asked and answered several times. I can't remember off the top of my head, so before I go off searching ...

Yes I did it but without success.
I have an ugly solution (a regex on the field ) but it should exist a more elegant way to get this value
