Hello! How do I get the red-backed things out of sight?

This is coming from "Group by" (can be disabled in list settings: Data/Group by) and you are obviously using a non-compatible Joomla template

Looks like a JoomShaper template, like Helix 3, in which case you'll need the bootstrap v3 overrides:

To disable it, you need to apply a viewing level which nobody is a member of. I usually create a viewing level in J! called "Nobody" which has no groups, then use that anywhere in Fabrik I need that capability.

I would suggest using something other than Gavick, as they don't even provide a Bootstrap compatibility library, and Fabrik relies totally on Bootstrap.

If your Joomla template isn't compatible to Fabrik (bootstrap2 like Protostar or bootstrap3 like e.g. Purity_III with the layout overrides) you'll get issues (date element, calc element, ajaxfied lists...)

Those overrides are really only useful for either Bootstrap v3 or UIKit based templates. Which Gavick ones aren't. They may coincidentally help with certain features, but you are still going to run into issues.
