Issues with Juser plugin 3.09

I'm attempting to build a customer user registration form in Joomla 2.5.20 using JUser plugin v 3.09 downloaded from the Downloads section of the site.

I don't seem to have any parameters in the plugin (The Wiki seems to suggest I should)

I am also having problems creating a password element to use with Juser (error message cannot add elements)

I've tried following this tutorial

But crucially it omits to say what type of element should be created when populating the form, e.g. field or user for example.

Can you advise if I seem to have a bug or if there is a newer version of plugin?

Running Fabrik 3.0.9October 2013 according to Extension manager.

You should update from GitHub (master branch) to get the latest 3.0.9 code (always backup before).

Elements: should be fields; the element holding the userid should be field/integer or a dbjoin element to #_users (NO user element).
