Updates: Github vs Joomla update

Hi guys, I've noticed since Joomla 3.5, even after updating from Github, refreshing the cache under Extensions/Manage, I still get a notification to update and the version number is still one behind.

Has anything changed as far as the update process goes? No need to update from Github anymore?

Strange.
GitHub versions should show Version 3.4.3 March2016 (in Manage after "RefreshCache", in Discover after "Discover"), no Joomla update should show up.
Latest Git (joomla3 branch) is 3 days ago.

Are you sure the GitHub update had run correctly?

This all sounds as if you are using a GitHub version from before 2016-03-23

The recent joomla3-GitHub-branch has a fix for the collation issue and all versions set to 3.4.3

downloaded today. yes I did. using shell.

BTW, can I do a fresh fabrik install using that github download? i always download the package from the site first, install that, then immediately update. (with a fresh install)

can I do a fresh fabrik install using that github download
GitHub zip is not installable.
Not sure if it's possible to "discover" all correctly without any Fabrik installation.

For the GitHub update: I would try to update via FTP

hmm. it's not a biggie, but would be nice to just do one install instead of two. and i noticed you can't download the package using a shell command as the download link does some kind of redirect thingie.

i'm almost convinced you're more likely to run into problems via FTP as opposed to just doing a wget command and downloading straight to the server?

GitHub is no official version.
You can apply the GitHub files as you like - but it seems you don't get the recent version the way you are doing it.

it's the same download link that I am using? i'm just downloading directly to my server instead of to my pc and then ftp back up to my server which takes 10 times as long.

We are in need of some funding.
More details.

Thank you.
